About the team and this role:
Inkle powers bookkeeping and compliance for hundreds of the most innovative US startups. We’re transforming how global companies manage their books — faster, more accurate, and fully investor-ready. As we scale, we’re building out our client services team to ensure every founder and CFO we work with has spotless books, on time, every month.
We’re looking for a Bookkeeping Support Intern who will help ensure smooth execution of client deliverables by coordinating closely with clients and internal teams. This role focuses on ownership, follow-ups, and operational support — ensuring that all required information, documents, and responses are received on time so client books can be completed efficiently.
You will work closely with bookkeeping and tax teams while interacting directly with US-based startup clients, helping maintain strong communication and accountability throughout the engagement.
Responsibilities:
Client Coordination & Follow Ups: Reach out to clients regularly to collect required documents, statements, and pending information. Proactively follow up on open items and ensure timely responses from clients
Ownership of Requirements Tracking: Maintain trackers for client requirements, pending queries, and documentation status. Ensure no requests remain unattended and escalate delays when necessary.
Client Communication: Communicate professionally with US startup founders and finance teams via email and chat. Clearly explain requirements and guide clients on information needed.
Operational Support: Assist the bookkeeping team by organizing client data, validating received documents, and ensuring completeness. Help prepare and maintain internal workflows and process checklists.
Process Accountability: Ensure timelines are met by proactively managing dependencies. Identify recurring delays or issues and suggest process improvements.
Who we’re looking for:
Extreme ownership & proactiveness: Someone proactive who takes accountability for tasks end-to-end. Comfortable following up persistently and professionally with clients.
Attention to detail: Accuracy is everything in bookkeeping. We need someone who sweats the small stuff.
Software proficiency: Must be comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets.
Communication skills: Strong written and verbal English; clear, concise communication with US founders and internal teams.
Experience: Recent graduate or pursuing a degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field. Prior internship or client coordination experience is a plus.
Location & Hours: Based in Bengaluru; Ability to work 12 pm to 9pm (IST) in-office (work afternoons until late nights) to sync with US time zones.
